In case you haven’t heard, The Hitch welcomed a new food truck to the block on Dec. 4: Oh My Pizza Pie!

Their specialties include gourmet brick-oven pizza and speciality root beer. While some of their menu remains the same week-to-week, others revolve with the availability of fresh, farmers’ market produce.

Founder Jake Wright started his original truck in Austin. Having studied German at the University of Texas, he travelled across Germany, eventually coming to work for a bread baker. After just a short time there, Wright fell in love with ovens and the effect they had on delicious food. He developed his skills in baking bread and took advantage of this to start baking perfect pizzas back in the United States.

The thing that separates us from other pizza vendors is that we respect the oven and we aren’t afraid to break the ‘conventional’ mold for pizza flavors,” said Wright’s partner, Casey Sullivan. “Like our peach and pecan pizza, it’s different, but it’s delicious.

During the truck’s short time being in San Marcos, they’ve come to appreciate the small town culture, the southern hospitality of the residents, and of course, the San Marcos River.

Oh My Pizza Pie is currently composed of two trucks, one stays stationary at The Hitch and the other travels to musical events, festivals, catering jobs, and more.

Their hours are currently 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, but they foresee extended hours on the weekends if there becomes a demand for it.

Come out and try one of their specialty pizzas, you won't regret it!
